Apple Nut Cookies

3/4 cup butter

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon water

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (my addition)

A sprinkle ground cloves (my addition)

1 cup finely chopped apples

1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped

1 1/2 cup flour (I used 1 cup whole wheat)


Method: Cream butter, slowly add brown sugar, beating well until fluffy and light. Beat in eggs and water. 


Add baking powder, soda, salt, and spices (nutmeg and if using, cinnamon and clove.) Beat 2 minutes. 


Stir in apples, raisins, nuts, oatmeal, and flour. (Do not overmix after adding last ingredients.) 


Drop by teaspoonsful or Cookies scoop onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Do not overbake.
