No real redeeming nutritional value. Just good gravy!
1 package good quality dried chipped Beef*
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
6-8 cups whole milk (can use a cup of heavy cream, too)
Salt and pepper to taste
Tip: Have all ingredients handy before starting this recipe.
Method: Chop chipped Beef into fine pieces. Melt butter using medium heat in large deep skillet or heavy pan. Add chopped chipped Beef to butter and stir a few times. Add flour and stir again. Add more butter if dry flour is left in the pan.
Stir in milk (and cream if using) stirring constantly with whisk. Add Worcestershire sauce.
Stir frequently (almost constantly) until Gravy thickens. Adjust milk or thickening if needed. Salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over toast, biscuits, or pancakes. We like to add crumbled hard boiled eggs on top.
*For best results, do not use "pressed" dried Beef. The better quality the dried Beef, the better the Gravy.
